Sticky Spicy Lamb/Beef Short Ribs
If you have never tried ribs before, then this short rib recipe is a must-try! It’s incredibly flavourful, the meat falls off the bone, and the sticky, spicy glaze hits the spot.
One of the great things about short ribs is their versatility. They are amazing when slow-cooked, oven bake or BBQ’. Once you try them, they will become one of your favourite lamb or beef cuts.
I have created this short rib recipe without an oven. It is slow-cooked on the stove until the meat is tender and then covered in an amazing, finger-licking sauce.
Ingredients:
Short Ribs:
* 1 1/2 kg lamb or beef short ribs
Marinade:
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp onion powder
* 1 tsp cumin powder
* 1/2 tsp black pepper
* 1 tsp red chilli powder
* 1 tsp paprika powder
* 1 tsp salt
* 2 tbsp lemon juice
* 1 tbsp vinegar
* 2 tbsp soy sauce
* 2 tbsp oil
Glaze Sauce:
* 2 tbsp Butter
* 2 tbsp Soft brown sugar
* 4 tbsp Soy sauce
* 2 tbsp Lemon juice
* Coriander
* 1 tsp Red chili powder
* 1/2 tsp Black pepper
* 1 tsp Paprika
* 1 tsp Crushed garlic
* 2 tbsp Honey
* 2 tbsp BBQ sauce
Instructions:
1. Marinate the Short Ribs:
* First, marinate the short ribs with the marinade ingredients and leave them overnight or for a minimum of 2 hours.
2. Cook the Short Ribs:
* Heat a pan and lay the short ribs in the pan one by one. Once they achieve a nice golden color, add a cup of water and let them cook for 40-45 minutes until they are tender. The cooking time depends on the size of the meat; sometimes it can take longer. Cook until the meat is soft and fully cooked.
3. Prepare the Glaze Sauce:
* Heat butter in a pan and add all the glaze sauce ingredients.
* Cook for a few minutes until all the spices are well mixed.
4. Finish the Short Ribs:
* Once the meat is cooked, brush the short ribs with the glaze sauce on both sides.
* Sprinkle with some red chilies on top (I used mild red chilies).
* Sprinkle some lemon juice and enjoy.
